Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has ordered the suspension of work on the new flyover project undertaken by the state government at the Professor Tam David West road junction along the East-West road until the engineering design for the project is certified.
Governor Amaechi gave the directive today while inspecting some on-going road projects in parts of the state, accompanied by all major contractors handling some projects for the state government.
The governor said since the Prof David-West road project had been redesigned from a 4-lane to a 6-lane road, it was imperative that the design for the flyover meets the new specification.
The State Chief Executive, who urged the contractors to justify the payment made to them by the state government, equally told them to ensure that the projects meet the required standard.
The inspection tour took the governor and his entourage to the Rumuokwuta-Choba Road, Prof. Tam David-West Road, and the Port Harcourt-Owerri Road, among others.
