NDDC to Provide N30m each to five LGA Councils

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is to provide N30m each to five Local Government Councils from each state within the region to enable them embark on projects of their choice.
NDDC Director for Community and Rural Development, Dr Christy Atako who disclosed this at Okehi when she paid a courtesy visit on the Chairman of Etche Local Government, Mr. Ephraim Nwuzi said that the selected local government councils will provide N15m each as their contribution to such projects.
Dr Atako said that the Commission has also produced a master plan to coordinate and facilitate the development of the Niger Delta Region, adding that the NDDC intervention programmes would guide against duplication of projects by all tiers of Government.
She stated that the Commission would continue to pursue its Human capacity project to enable youths and women of the region acquire skills that could enhance their living.
The NDDC Director commended Etche Local Government Council for building a model secretariat and urged the council Chairman to continue to ensure prudent management of funds.
Responding, the Chairman of Etche Local Government, Mr. Ephraim Nwuzi who was represented by his Vice, Mr. Emmanuel Nwauwa commended the Commission for giving priority to the development of the Niger Delta Region.
